Clark County Package Liquor Restrictions

On November 15, 2022, the Board of Clark County Commissioners (the “Board”) discussed a possible amendment of the Clark County liquor code to require certain package liquor licensees to establish plans to prevent access to liquor by minors and/or to require liquor to be stored in an enclosed and/or isolated area within the store. This amendment would potentially affect gift stores, grocery stores, convenience stores, gas stations, and other package liquor licensees (the “Licensees”).

The Clark County Department of Business License (“CCBL”) indicated concern that some Clark County package liquor Licensees currently display liquor next to checkout counters, endcaps of aisles, and mixed in with other non-alcoholic items. The County identified concern about such displays possibly making liquor too accessible to minors. The Board did express concern about unduly burdening the Licensees and requested that the CCBL consult with the Licensees before they will adopt any amendments.

If your business is affected by this proposed amendment, please reach out to Saltzman Mugan Dushoff.
