Las Vegas Approves Alcohol Delivery Expansion

The Las Vegas City Council has approved an ordinance expanding alcohol delivery opportunities for City of Las Vegas retailers.

The ordinance makes the following two sets of changes:

  1. The ordinance expands the types of businesses that are eligible for applying for and obtaining an ancillary alcohol delivery license. Under pre-existing code, only certain grocery stores were eligible to obtain such an ancillary license. This change makes the delivery license available to various other retailers, including certain restaurants, bars, convenience stores and liquor stores.
  2. The ordinance also allows third-party delivery companies to apply for and obtain a newly created privilege license to deliver alcoholic beverages from one or more of the retailers identified above to Las Vegas customers.

The attorneys at Saltzman Mugan Dushoff spearheaded this code change and were greatly involved throughout the approval process. Additional coverage of this ordinance can be found in this Review Journal Article, featuring a quote from Saltzman Mugan Dushoff Shareholder Ryan Saxe.

Should you have any questions regarding obtaining one of these newly available licenses, please feel free to contact Ryan Saxe at rsaxe@nvbusinesslaw.com.
