On January 10, 2017 the Clark County, Nevada Department of Business License proposed a number of changes to its liquor code. The proposed changes are:
- Allowing for sale of “growlers” from certain package licensees
- Allowing restaurant floor plan flexibility by allowing a business to submit a security plan rather than mandatory physical barriers between bars and seating areas
- Allowing corkage service in restaurant – bring your own bottle
- Eliminating strict ratio for bar/lounge seating in relation to restaurant seats.
Also proposed is a new ancillary liquor license for businesses such as painting studios, driving ranges, etc.
Liquor retailers will find these changes a very positive development and will help avoid restrictions on what a retailer can do in Clark County compared to other licensing jurisdictions in Nevada.
